Gravity Forms is a product from RocketGenius that is a very handy solution for creating forms on a WordPress site. What if you want a user registration form based on a certain selection criteria? Or do you need a form for your users to publish their content on your site directly through the main interface without access to the admin panels? With Gravity Forms , you can solve all of the above tasks, while in addition to out-of-the-box solutions, you can create your own forms based on custom code and filters. New features are constantly being added to the plugin, expanding the range of actions that you can perform.

Gravity Forms covers all form elements, from their presentation to notifications. It has a drag and drop interface for creating forms with lots of fields to choose from. The list of possible fields includes: email address, name, file selection for upload, drop-down lists, captcha and much more. Simply grab the field you want, drag it into the form editor, and then customize its value. It also allows you to set up conditional logic so that certain fields are shown to the user, for example, only if a particular option is selected from a dropdown menu. This is useful for more complex shape trees.

Gravity Forms takes care of all the server-side data validation needed when submitting a form. The plugin checks if the email address is valid, if the captcha is filled in correctly, if all required fields are filled in correctly, and also checks the data security. You can add the form to your site using a shortcode or a function call, meaning you can include it in individual posts, pages, or embed it in your template. The plugin also supports widgets if you want to pin the form to the sidebar. This is by far the most difficult part of the job if you were to create the form yourself. There are many potential opportunities for form field attacks, whether intentional or accidental.

Gravity Forms has a fairly complex custom notification system. By default, all data submitted via Gravity Forms is stored in your database and can be viewed through the WordPress admin panel. There are also many spam bots out there ready to take advantage of any flaws in form design. Gravity Forms is secure and anti-spam, even without additional security measures such as captchas.

Additional features

Gravity Forms has been running on a lot of sites for a while now, so the plugin has already been updated with new features based on feedback from users. So Gravity Forms is being updated with more advanced functionality.

Gravity Forms now supports multi-page forms, which can be set up by adding a page break field to the form. It also now includes progress indicators, displayed in the form of a progress bar or a step-by-step indicator. For long forms, you can add instructions for users to let them know what else they need to do.

The plugin also allows you to set up payments, so forms can be used to sell products through the site. It's certainly not a dedicated e-commerce solution, but it allows you to set different prices depending on the user's choice, and also has add-ons that allow you to connect with Stripe or PayPal .
